The home of the

Hi, my name is Charlotte Martin, mature student, nerdy invertebrate fan and a Glow-worm obsessive! Welcome to the place where you can learn about this charismatic beetle of the Firefly family that is one of Scotlands best kept nature secrets. Yep, that’s right, a Firefly. In Scotland. That glows! Hardly known about and even less well researched I hope to get the ‘Glowie’ better known and protected in Scotland. Here you can find information about the species, upcoming surveys details, survey videos, livestreams, and follow my research. Hopefully I can inspire you to go looking for them in your area and record them for a better idea of the population size and trends. Moths are also a passion of mine so I will be adding moth information and moth events too where I will share the results of moth species found in my light traps and potentially livestream the glory of opening the traps in the morning to see what mothy treasures are happily resting in the collecting box.

If you have any comments or questions about Scotlands’ Glow-worms, please drop me a message below and I will get back to you as soon as possible!

thank you!
